Ingredients:
½ cup - Whole black gram (Urad)
2 tbs - Red kidney beans (Rajma)
1 - medium sized onion finely chopped
1 tsp - Ginger garlic paste
1 - Large tomato finely chopped
¼ tsp - Cumin seeds
½ tsp - Red chilli powder
½ tsp - Cumin powder
1 tbs - Coriander powder
½ tsp - Garam masala
1/8 tsp - Turmeric
2 tbs - Ghee
1tsp - oil
1 tbs - Butter
¼ tsp - Lemon Juice
3 cups - Water
Salt to taste
Coriander leaves for garnish
Pre –Preparation:
- Wash and soak the Urad and red kidney beans together overnight or at least 4 hrs in hot water.
Method:
- In a pressure cooker Add Urad dal mixture and 3 cups of water.
- Add salt, 1 tsp oil. Mix it and cook it for 3 whistles.
- When pressure cooker cools down and ready to open check Urad dal n kidney beans are properly cooked.
- Take 1Tbs ghee in a pan and heat it on a medium high.
- Add cumin seeds. Stir it when become little brown add onion.
- Cook onions until golden brown.
- Now add ginger garlic paste. Let it cook for 1 more minute.
- Add chopped tomatoes. Mix it and cook it for another minute.
- Now add all dry spices red chilli powder, turmeric, cumin powder, and coriander powder and garam masala.
- Let it cook all spices for 1 minute.
- Add cooked Urad dal & kidney beans mixture along with water.
- Add water if dal is too thick.
- Add salt according to taste.
- Cook it for 5 -7 minutes with lid on low flame.
- Add few drops of lemon juice
- Dal makhani is ready to serve. Garnish with Coriander and add butter on top while serving.
- Enjoy it with paratha, naan, roti or rice.
like dal makhni the mosst but never tried cooking it. But i think now i should prepare my self for war with my kitchen for my favourite dishes. Urmi i need recipe for Halwa also that too aate ka halwa.
